Forthill out of School Club (SC036248)

On in-service days and during holidays the club offers care for children from 8am until 6pm.

Children can arrive the club at anytime however all children must be signed in by a responsible person over the age of 16.

Throughout the session the children are served breakfast until approximately 9am. A choice of toast, cereal and other breakfast products are served if children wish to eat. Children eat at the breakfast table where social skills are learned and developed.

Throughout the session children are offered the opportunity to choose from a wide range of activities including role play, construction & free play, games & jigsaws, reading, drawing, quiet area, TV, PC's and on occasion's use of the Wii. We also use the gym hall and/or outside as much as we can.

A structured programme of activities also takes place during holiday periods. The programme is made available to service users 4 - 6 weeks prior to the holiday period beginning. There are 2 activities per session (morning and afternoon); one which is a physical activity either outside or in the gym hall and the other is usually an art based activity. The staff work hard to consult service users when making programmes and try to make it as balanced as possible.

The club regularly takes children on trips as part of the programme and invites guests to do workshops with the children. Parents will be notified in advance of where we are going, the departure tie and estimated arrival time back at the club.

Snack will be served once in the morning and again in the afternoon. Snack meets regulations and will always include a variety of fruit and vegetables and a second choice, for example a biscuit, fruit, pancake, jelly, yoghurts etc. Where possible a choice will be offered to help ensure all children can have something they like. Drinks offered include water, milk and fruit juice. Snack will reflects social and cultural festivals throughout the year as well as a tool for introducing new tastes to children

Lunch is provided by parents and all children will eat together in a social setting. There are no stipulations other than all items must be ready to eat and an ice pack included within the lunchbox to help maintain the temperature.
